School's been pretty fucking fantastic and pretty horrible. I'll explain both.
The Good:
My schedule is perfect.
I have Bio, Algebra, and English the first three periods, so I only need to go to my locker twice (and Algebra is four feet from said locker). I have Study Hall or Band 4th period, so I can work on HW and such from the morning or for the afternoon. I have PE or Bio Lab or Study Hall 5th period, which is lucky because last year I had PE 3rd period and it was sweaty all day, and this is early enough for Bio Lab so we aren't sweating in the overheated classroom. 6th period is Global, which is an amazing class, and 7th period is lunch, which is way too late in the day and always makes me cranky and tired. 8th period is Spanish II (BLEH) and 9th is Studio Art, very interesting and fun.
I have a study hall days 1,3,4, and 5 (out of a 6 day cycle) in the middle of the day.
The study hall is completely silent, forcing me to do work and not chat. Last year I only had one study hall every six days, and it was at the end of the day, so I just fucked around and did no work because... Who cares, we're leaving in 40 minutes anyway! Its also in between my three morning classes and my two afternoon classes, which means I can do homework I got from the morning classes and finish homework for the afternoon classes. Yay!
My gym period has my friends and no enemies.
Literally. Maybe Deanna can be considered an enemy, but as long as I don't talk to her fat ass, its whatever. She's just so damn sarcastic and EVIL. Oh well. But I have Cady and Rachel, and Chelsea (who's on my JV team, yay) and Ben (the guy I'm manipulating) and David (who's awesome). And the only problem is my scheduling thingy... But that's later.
Most of my classes are engaging and interesting.
Except for Spanish II, my classes are awesome. Honors Bio is ALL smart people, it's fun and I know the material pretty well (even though its the third day) and I genuinely enjoy Biology. Algebra, though not honors which bugs me, has a majority of honors students because there are only two blocks of honors classes for two subjects (one for Bio, one for English) so our schedules pretty much conform to the same thing with minor differences. I'm good at Math, too. Honors English is amazing. I hate English but we're learning about Choice Theory by Dr. Glasser, a psychologist, and it's actually fun. I'm interested in improving my weakest subject, whereas last year I was like... Fuck this. Global is the fucking best (my Honors classes beat it in content, but the teacher!!) The teacher is awesome. He doesn't lecture, at all. He asks a question and we, as a class, come up with the answer through trial and error. I've learned more random crap (and relevant crap) from him in three days then I really have ever wanted to. Spanish II is shit, though. Studio Art is GOING to be fun but right now its full of crappy notes and making a book to but the notes in... i want sketching, I want painting, I want to make ART art.
My teachers all like me.
Last year I had a teacher (maybe two?) that really didn't like me. Two, yeah, because English and Spanish both bugged me. They were either rude and condescending, or boring and didn't give a fuck, so I'd read or not pay attention and then get in trouble!! This year, every single teacher likes me, even if I don't really like them (Spanish II, hehe). Bio? She has my mom's old job, she's amazing and knows me well, and knows what to expect from me (excellence, lol). Algebra? She's a volleyball coach, knows my weaknesses and strengths, and is funny. English? I've never had her before, and she only knows me by name. She is young, interesting, and she teaches the material effectively. Global, that man is amazing. He doesn't lecture, he questions, and he genuinely likes me. We got into a discussion (during class, around 23 other people listening, haha!) about the social studies book (expensivo!) and how awesome it is. He has had the majority of my relatives in Global/History and he hasn't held that against me, because apparently he didn't like them, haha. Spanish II... Eh. She likes me because I'm smart. I hate her class because it's ridiculous. Studio Art, it's boring now but I suck up enough to get easy 100s.
Volleyball has been easy practices and two won matches.
We were nervous and weird during our first match, but on Thursday we pulled it together and won with resounding success. We all have our shortcomings and we all make our mistakes, but we're improving like craaazy. And I'm getting assists by the buttload.
I have two guys who I can manipulate (??)
This might not be a good thing. But I've been talking to Paris (not his real name, haha) sparingly but he's in 8th grade and that bothers me. But he's athletic (I don't know how smart he is) and he occasionally acts like a stoner, lol. Ben hangs with stoners but isn't one, he's an honors student like me, but does no sports. If I could only combine Paris's athleticism, Ben's intelligence, Paris's clear skin and sweet hair and body, and Ben's awesome sense of humor (and apparent obsession with me) then we'd be good.
Fe and I get to hang out during lunch/after school.
I love Felicia!! She's an amazing tenth grader who's been my friend for ages. We met when I was in 3rd and she was in 4th grade I think (we were young, at least) during a play put on by my grandma for Community Chorus and we were like BUDDIES! And then we didn't see eachother until I was in 7th grade and she was in 8th, and now begins our 3rd year of best buddyship. She's my fave tenth grader and always has been, even when I was dating Randy.
The new 7th grade class has like tons kids who LOVE me.
I have Shannon (Randy's younger sister), Miranda (Aub's younger sister), James (my cousin), Abby (my grandma's old neighbor and Paige's family friend), Kara (Paige's younger sister), and tons of other little kids who are AWESOME. They are pretty lippy, though.
I'm getting TONS of compliments from kids in my grade.
I don't know why, but several girls (one who is on my volleyball team and is like my best-volleyball-buddy, two of whom are super popular, and the other who is usually quite snippy) are complimenting my... Everything. "Emily, you have really cute shorts on." "Yeah, they are awesome, Em!" or they pet my hair behind me on the bleachers during gym and say, "Emily, you have like perfect hair." "Look, her part is like perfect even after being up in a ponytail." And then "Oh, you're shirt is so cute!" "You are so skinny!" "I love your earrings," It's amazing and unexpected. The things that I used to envy about these girls, their confidence, their clothes, the ability to have perfect hair/makeup, is now being projected onto me. It's great for my self esteem and also helps me remember to be cheerful and nice to everyone, and to reciprocate these compliments. It helps everyone!
Yeahhh.
The Bad:
My schedule got changed without my knowing it.
I was like WTF. I'm still on Mrs. Snell's attendance list for 4th period study Hall, but apparently my schedule was changed so I was in 4th period Gym, too. I was like HELL no I like my schedule (even though Randy is in Mrs. Snell's study hall) and I love my gym class. The other gym class is mostly seniors, and the other study hall has Felicia in it, but you're allowed to chat and hang out, and I'd never get work done. I'm fixing it on Monday.
Randy is in my study hall on Day 3.
See above, I guess. It's pretty self-explanatory.
I have been accused of incest.
Uh, yeah. With my cousin. Making out or something. A kid asked me "do you do things with you cousin?" I was like Fuck no, leave me alone. Apparently Randy's been spreading shit rumors... Argh.
I'm exhausted.
It's from getting up at 5:15 because any later and I wouldn't get a shower until 6:00, having 6 and a half hours of school and no food until 5 hours have passed, two hours of practice OR 3-4 hours of volleyball games (JV and Varsity), and not getting to bed because of homework, laundry, food, cleaning, internet, reading, and chores until 11 at night.
I'm cranky after 7th period.
After eating lunch, I'm full and happy but exhausted (see above). I want to go sleep. And my spanish class is obnoxious, which I can only deal with for one period. My Studio Art class makes me sleep because my art teacher WAS an elementary art teacher, and she used to read to us, and her voice reminds me of nap time, no lie.
I hate Spanish II.
It's obnoxious, her notes are shitty, and I'm bored as hell.
I'm still ridiculed for being too smart.
I'm picked on, given sarcasm, laughed at, ignored, and/or just plain hated for being smart and nerdy. I have been admired several time but that's more rare than kryptonite.
Band is going to be horrid.
We are ridiculous, and I love my oboe too much to quit.
I quit Chorus.
So I can't do NYSSMA or All County, the only reasons I did chorus in the first place.
